Chris’ Mission:
Our Managing Director, Chris has seen the real difference that St Barnabas Hospice makes to patients and families across Lincolnshire living with a life-limiting or terminal illness. The charity helps over 12,000 people locally each year and aims to enable people to live as fully as they are able for however many days, weeks, or months.
Chris wants to ensure that St Barnabas can be there for them every day of the year by taking on 4 epic challenges and fundraising for their 40th Anniversary. So far, he has successfully completed a fire walk and 75 mile Giant Sportive, cycling his way to the finish line in under 5 hours!
For his 3rd challenge, Chris will be one of the 60,000 determined and dedicated runners that make the Great North Run the World’s biggest and best half marathon – famous for its warm North East welcome, unbeatable atmosphere and the millions raised for good causes.
On the 11th September Chris will be following an iconic city-to-coast route, starting in Newcastle City Centre, before heading over the Tyne Bridge at just before the 2-mile mark. Entering Gateshead, he will pass the International Stadium, before continuing towards the coast, making a final turn at the 12-mile point, and running along the seafront for the final stretch. He aims to complete the 13.2 mile run in under two hours.
It’s been over 12 years since Chris has taken on running and certainly nothing of this magnitude. As you can see from the photos, he is in training hard to make sure he can complete the challenge. Swopping time in the saddle for the Giant Sportive to time in his new trainers, getting in as many miles he can before the half marathon.
Chris and St Barnabas would be so grateful for any show of support, every £14.02 raised will enable St Barnabas to provide one hour of specialist at home care to a patient living with life-limiting or terminal illness. The challenges are self-funded by Chris and every penny raised will go to this wonderful charity.
Looking ahead the 4th and final challenge Chris will embark on a Snowdon Sunrise Trek, climbing Mount Snowdon at night at a date yet to be finalised.
